Aussie Pumps has released a series of silenced high pressure steam
cleaners that offer 4,000 psi pressure and 121 degrees Celsius steam
at noise levels of under 75 dBA.
Built by Hydrotek in collaboration with Aussie Pumps engineers,
the silenced SCX hydro ‘hush’ series was built with heavy duty
components that make them suitable for high pressure cleaning in
harsh and remote environments.
“The SCX silenced unit does not look like any silenced pressure
cleaner you have ever seen,” stated Aussie Pumps chief engineer
“The machine looks more like something from NASA. It
is much more compact than the big sound enclosed cabinets
commonly used to silence diesel engine operated equipment.”
The series’ kit consists of a heavy duty Bertolini triplex pump that
delivers 20 lpm flow at 4,000 psi using Hydrotek’s diesel powered
high pressure boiler system. The whole unit is powered by a three
cylinder Kubota water cooled diesel engine that develops 14.5
kilowatts at 3200 rpm.
“The unit’s noise reduction is obtained by a combination of multiple
components,” explained Aussie Pump’s marketer Inderjit Pawar.
“A custom designed muffler goes on the engine exhaust to reduce
the engine dB. A three piece stainless steel panel kit, backed by

Australian manufacturer Ansell has recently released a chemical
resistant, single use disposable glove – it claims – is the thinnest in
Made with a three-layer design, the Microflex 93-260 is said to
offer tough protection against a broad range of chemicals, while still
providing the dexterity and tactility of a thin, disposable glove.
“Traditional disposable gloves are designed to provide protection
against chemicals for only short periods of time – in the event of a
splash; while chemical gloves typically have a thicker, sturdier design
for longer lasting protection,” explained the company.
“The Microflex 93-260 is a thin, disposable glove designed to offer
higher levels of protection against chemicals for longer periods of
time than ordinary single use gloves.”
The glove is designed to resist a range of ‘aggressive’ chemicals
through its three-layer design. The exterior nitrile layer delivers
maximum protection against organic solvents, while the soft
neoprene middle layer provides acid and base resistance. A final
interior layer provides a continual dry feel, while also easing the
donning and doffing process.
“There are many jobs in different industries that require people
to be reliably protected against chemicals while manipulating small
parts and pieces with their fingers,” said Joe Kubicek, president and
general manager of the Ansell Single Use Global Business Unit.
“As the thinnest chemical resistant, single use glove available, the

insulation is also added to the

ignored to complete the noise dampening process.
“We think this is a huge breakthrough,” exclaimed Mr Hales.
“Contractors, government departments and even the army have
shown interest in a silenced steam cleaner that can operate
